Stimulating the senses, spoiling the mind.
Happy start of 2025! I‘ve got an assignment for a painting (and maybe becomes two) size 140 x 110 cm. Great! Cannot wait to start. ❤️❤️❤️ Buying play-slats to put the canvas on.
The hand of my father. First painting finished in 2025.
My father lost his hand due to an exploding hand-grenade on March 14, 1946 while serving the army in Hulten, when young soldiers had to clean the ammunition of WOII without any protection or instructions. He saved the lives of everyone who was set to work there. He never got any credits.
May be I should change the projects-name just onto The Hand. New painting. Acrylic on Masonite. Unfinished
Starting a new painting. This was the left hand of my father. Still in progress!
Claar Griffioen and Paul van den Akker visited me in my studio to have an interview about Frans Franciscus or Frans van den Vooren. They write a book about him and his art.
I was with Frans in Berlin in 1984. Pim my nephew was with him and I met Also Erwin Olaf there. It was a great time of exploration and discussing each others art.
Work from the Berlin time. Morning cock and the opera singer are from Frans. The others are from me.
At work in my studio. Setting up a big improvisation. An expression of sound in visuals, meaning: designing visuals that needs to be sound too.
Twenty five years Kenpenaerstudio! Celebrated with open studio’s with movies art-films presentation of design and art theatre and music performances. A day to remember.
I presented my opera drawings and parts of the libretto. With music from @thomasvgeerts.
And I showed my Crash paintings and graphic score based on a real story from filmmaker Tjepke Zijlstra (@peppe_zucchini). Visualizing the energie of a near dead experience after a crash. A child from about 6 years said he had seen those lights when he broke his arm, and a psychic man said it was his daily experience, those energies and recognized the spiritual figure.
It was a day to remember.
Thanks to @hanneke_gol for the photos
Parts of my graphic score MJ. An ode to my sister and friend Marion who passed away so young. The score is devised in 3 parts. Part one is about het youth, part two about our travel to Cuba and the last one about her suffering and death.
The client saw the works as a digital preview. First one to dark. Second option. Time to consider.
